Emma Raducanu's comeback ahead of the 2024 season is confirmed and the preparation has already started in the weeks leading up to Christmas after previous surgery on her wrist and ankle in May.
Raducanu posted some behind-the-scenes pictures of her sweating on a cross trainer at the National Tennis Centre before adding a caveat for those eagle eyed wondering where any training footage is. She was adamant that she did go on court as many would be wondering if she has yet returned outside of gym work.
"bts @ NTC, feels good to be pushing each other on. didn’t have any court pics but was out there & another good day. 🥵" Raducanu wrote.
Her last match was back in Stuttgart in April where Jelena Ostapenko eased past her 6-2, 6-1. She decided to undergo surgery on both wrists and one of her ankles in May to resolve longstanding injury issues. She has now slipped down to No.298 and has an uphill battle to make it to the Australian Open itself.
She is a few spots outside of the cut off list and with no protected ranking in the main cut off, she could end up playing qualifying. But her official comeback will come prior with the 2024 ASB Classic in Auckland heralding her first action in nearly a year and the first chance to see the former US Open champion in action.
