Rafael Nadal defeated Diego Schwartzman 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-0 in the Roland Garros quarterfinal and after the match, he spoke with the media.
It was a great match for Nadal in the Roland Garros quarterfinal against Diego Schwartzman but it was not a perfect set. The 2nd set featured quite a bit of struggle by Nadal who lost his serve twice in the set losing it 4-6 eventually. On that he said:
"I started badly in the second set, then I was able to come back. But at 4-4, returning with the wind, I played a bad game and hit a double fault in the next game."
For Nadal, it was key to do what he did in the first set and that was being aggressive. Nadal came out aggressive in the first and Schwartzman handled it fairly well. But eventually, he wore down as the set went on and Nadal was able to win it. Nadal underlined a similar mentality saying:
"I needed to play more aggressively and I did so throughout the rest of the match. I won an important match today against a tough opponent. I was able to find a way to play my best tennis in the moments that I really needed to."
Nadal will play Novak Djokovic for a place in the French Open final and many agree it's the final before the final. They most recently played in the Rome Master's final with Nadal winning that match.
