"I want to beat everybody and actually Rafa even more" - Medvedev on Nadal

Daniil Medvedev named Rafael Nadal as the player whom he faces with additional motivation explaining what the reason is.

Medvedev and Nadal played a couple of matches but all of them have been important. The Russian faced Nadal twice in grand slam finals and almost beat him both times. The first one was a few years ago in New York when Nadal almost threw away a 2-0 lead against the Russian only to triumph in the fifth set.

The second time was this year when Medvedev threw away a 2-0 lead to lose the match in the Australian Open final. Those matches motivate the Russian to do better and that's why he's eager to beat Nadal more so than usually:

"I want to beat everybody and actually Rafa [Nadal] even more because I lost two Grand Slam finals against Rafa but I'm really happy to be playing against Novak."

The question came before his clash with Djokovic against whom he did have some success. His lone grand slam trophy came after he beat Djokovic in the final.
