Corentin Moutet is not one to shy away from the controversy. The Frenchman picked up a gruelling but well-earned 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(5) win over fellow countryman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at Queen's Club Championships before swearing a stunning seven times in the interview which followed, forcing the BBC to apologise.
It would not be a tennis tournament without Moutet doing something which gets him in the spotlight, whether good or bad. The flamboyant tennis player enjoys putting on a show for the crowd and can produce some scintillating tennis when at his best, making him a dangerous opponent.
He proved that in the first round of Queen's when managing to find a way past Mpetshi Perricard. The big server was forced to qualify for the tournament, but sensed a chance to get some more points on the board as he looked to climb back up the order. The match had started the day prior, but slippery conditions had forced the players to call it a day and return the next day to conclude the match.
It would be him who clinched the first set in a tiebreak. After 12 holds, Mpetshi Perricard sailed into a 6-3 lead in the tiebreak before converting a third set point to move himself halfway from victory.
Moutet responded. The first break points came in the first game of the second set. Moutet survived before breaking right at the end to force a third and deciding set. Both players let break points slide with a second tiebreak needed to split them. Over two days of enthralling action, Moutet finally got the job done in another very tight tiebreak.

Interview cut short as Moutet cannot stop swearing

The relief was clear to see from Moutet, who seemed to forget that he was at a tennis tournament. In his on court interview, all sense of reality and media training went out the window in an explicit interview.
He first used an expletive to describe one of Mpetshi Perricard's ridiculously powerful serves. Presenter, Jenny Drummond, asked him not to say that word again. Moutet resoundingly ignored this advice and went on to say it another three times.

Drummond apologised as Moutet swore three more times before interview abruptly was cut short. Claire Balding was forced to apologise as well for the profanities. All of this seemed like a joke for Moutet, who reacted to a clip of his interview by saying: "I was just joking, I hope you guys didn't get offended. Thanks for the love."
There is a very large chance that he will be fined, but Moutet will not be focusing on that. He is a three-time ATP finalist but never having won a title. One of them came on grass last year in the Mallorca Championships, losing out to Tallon Griekspoor. He will look to continue his title charge against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina tomorrow in the last-16 in what is set to be a fiery contest.
