Several tennis fans have reacted positively to the news that Swiss Maestro
Roger Federer will have a documentary released by Amazon, which will be based on the final 12 days of his career.
The former World No.1 retired at the 2022 Laver Cup, taking the court to for the last time with longtime rival and good friend Rafael Nadal in a doubles match. Prior to his participation at the Laver Cup, Federer had approached Conde Nast chief content officer Anna Wintour for help with capturing his final days on tour as a professional player.
Amazon to release documentary, with fans excited at the news
Federer worked with Joe Sabia, who was directed by Wintour, in recording footage that included playing against the likes of Novak Djokovic, Nadal and Any Murray. With Amazon stepping in and acquiring the rights to the material, the documentary is set to be released in July 2024, the same month as the
Wimbledon Championships.
Fans were pleased upon hearing the announcement, with several looking forward to reliving the 20-time Grand Slam champion's final days on tour.
