Cameron Norrie will play tennis in South America this February as is set to take on the clay challenge after some positive experiences on the surface in the past.
Norrie is not a natural fit on the surface but he played himself to a competent level on it due to his supreme fitness and ability to track down plenty of balls. He's won trophies on the surface and the hope is to add a few more, possibly in the next few weeks. It will be tough as the fields will be really strong:
"This week I want to continue preparing on clay, stay patient and
take it day by day. I feel that many Latin American tennis players play
very well here. I
will have to play at my best level to have a chance of winning. It
usually takes me longer to find my optimal rhythm on clay, so I have to
be patient with myself and keep the basics of my tennis good.”
He added:
“My results have been better. It hasn’t changed too much. I
keep trying to improve my tennis, my game on clay. I try to work as
hard as I can. I want to keep going for more and improve my ranking and
my game. I feel more mature on the circuit. When I last played here (at
the
Argentina Open) I was in the preliminary phase and I had hardly any
experience.”
