Former great Tommy Haas doesn't think Alexander Zverev will have to wait long for a grand slam victory despite being winless so far.
The best chance for Alexander Zverev to win a grand slam came at the US Open in 2020 when he lost to Dominic Thiem in the final. The worst thing about that loss was the fact that he was up 2-0. It was a disappointment but the German kept working and improving. He played a superb Roland Garros injuring himself in the epic match against Rafael Nadal.
Tommy Haas understands there is tremendous pressure on Zverev as he's yet to win a grand slam with years passing but the German has firm belief in his compatriot:
"Suddenly you're in your late 20s and still don't have a title, but I wouldn't bet against him under any circumstances. After torn ligaments in the semifinals of the French Open, he has just had to take a longer break for the first time."
He continued:
"After that, you have to regain your confidence and strength. However, he has a good environment and I'm sure he won't have to wait long before he comes back to the top of the world."
Zverev hopes to be healthy for the US Open but he won't force it. If he doesn't feel ready he won't rush it which is a smart decision.
