Andy Murray admits there will be a point when he will consider retirement and that could be in the near future based on his results over the past year.
Part of the so-called Big Four with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, it is only really the latter who is still competing and Nadal is set for a 2024 comeback. Murray and also Stan Wawrinka have proven to still have the heart and the hunger for the sport despite multiple potential career ending setbacks.
But for Murray, it is about enjoyment and also he admits still playing while he can still match those at the very top. He says that when he feels he can't anymore, retirement will become an option. But also having stayed relatively injury free since his 2019 resurfacing, he will aim to continue to climb the tennis rankings only a few years on from crying in Melbourne and thinking that his career was done.
"The body's old, but I still love it, and still loving the training and travelling," said Murray. "It's a little bit tougher now being away - you've got a young family, which is tough.
"But I feel good enough to compete with the best players in the world, and I'll keep playing until I feel like I can't do that anymore."
"As long as I'm healthy, it makes it a lot more enjoyable to be out on the court. When you've got lots of injuries and stuff, the rehab is a lot harder now than when I was a lot younger. So hopefully I can stay fit."
