Daniil Medvedev will contest the 2022 Australian Open final against Nadal and he will try to spoil the Spaniard's quest to 21 grand slams just like he did for Djokovic a couple of months ago.
After defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in four sets, Medvedev talked to Jim Courier and he said:
“I’m going to play again against one of the greatest [in Nadal]. And what’s funny is again I’m going to play someone going for the 21st Slam. So, I guess last time [with the US Open] Rafa was watching near the TV."
He then continued:
“I don’t know who he was cheering for but I think Novak will be watching this one in two days also! I’m ready, I know that Rafa is a very strong player. I will need to show my best to try to win this match.”
The final will be played on Sunday, January 30th and when it concludes we will either have Daniil Medvedev with two grand slam trophies or Rafael Nadal with 21. If Nadal wins he will become the first to ever win 21 and the player with the most grand slam wins ever.
