Germany’s tennis star
Alexander Zverev was left a little frustrated
after being asked whether he feels the same as he used to before.
The 26-year-old is perhaps going through one of the most
consistent phases of his career where he has managed to secure four semifinal
spots in the last five events. However, on all four occasions, he did not
manage to book a place in the final. Zverev, who struggled with injuries in the early part of his
career, was clearly frustrated when he was asked once again by the media whether he sill feels the same
as he used to before.
"I'm tired of this question to be honest,” he said. “Because
I get this question so many times. I think winning these kind of tournaments,
that's when you're back at your best, but also at the same time, I'm number
five in the world. So to be honest, I don't think you're playing bad
tennis when you're at number five in a world. So, I think, I'm on a good way.
I'm getting to later stage of the big tournaments more consistently, I feel
like, and that's what's it's all about."
Zverev’s previous assignment was the Miami Open where he lost
in the semifinal to Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. He will now take part
in the
Monte-Carlo Masters where his first outing will be up against Austria’s Sebastian
Ofner in the round of 32 on Tuesday.
