Carlos Alcaraz played an incredible match to down Karen Khachanov 6-0 6-2 and advanced to the Hamburg semifinals.
The Spaniard improved to 35-5 on the year, 13-0 in ATP 500 events and secured the 6th semifinal in the last 10 events played. Just an incredible level from the Spaniard who played his best match in Hamburg by far today and it comes from all the practising he's doing at the moment. Speaking after the match, Alcaraz said:
"I played unbelievable today, probably one of my best matches this year. I'm pretty happy with the performance that I'm playing in this tournament. Yesterday was amazing as well. I'm training every day to be solid and at the same time to be aggressive. That is my game."
Alcaraz is currently ranked 6th in the world and with a win over Cerundolo in the semifinals, the Spaniard would move up to number 5 which would be a new career high. If he would end up winning the event, he would be ranked number four on Monday which is incredible. On the semifinal, Alcaraz said:
"I will try to do my best in the semi-finals to be able to do the same result as Juan Carlos, and of course trying to fight into the final. Of course to beat Juan Carlos, to try to win this tournament means a lot. If I win this tournament, I will make jokes to him that I am better than him. It would be amazing."
