Jannik Sinner spoke about the war in Ukraine in a recent interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport expressing worry about what has been going on.
The Italian was unlucky in these first months of the year and has not yet shown his best tennis on the tour. The 20-year-old, however, has always shown that he can win matches while not playing to the best of his ability, as long as there are no injuries in the middle of the journey (examples Indian Wells and Miami). Speaking during an interview with Gazetta dello Sport, Sinner spoke about Alcaraz who has been ona rise recently:
"We cannot read the future, there are also many other very strong
players. Certainly phenomena like him you notice at first sight. It's nice that someone like him has arrived on the circuit, new protagonists give great sensations."
On the war in Ukraine, Sinner said:
"I'm worried, like everyone else. Sometimes things happen that make us understand that there is also pain and evil. I
see that Russians and Ukrainians respect each other and are friends on
the Tour. Perhaps we should start from here. I love tennis, I invested
all of myself to try to make it my job. I like to play."
Sinner lost a dramatic mathc to Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals on the Monte-Carlo Masters.
