Daniil Medvedev suffered a shocking loss to Alex de Minaur who was 0-18 against top 5 ranked players before that match.
Medvedev dropped the opening set against de Minar after losing his cool towards the end of the set and the same thing happened at the end of the match. Despite outplaying the Australian in the second and third sets, Medvedev was unable to remain patient enough to see the match through but rather committed a double fault on match point to lose it.
He smashed his racquet and ranted over something explaining after the match that while he was unhappy with the umpire, he didn't say anything to him:
“I was not at all talking to the umpire about the crowd. In my opinion, the crowd was nice, supporting both players, 50/50, always nice. In my opinion, the umpire didn’t do a good match, but I’m not criticizing. It’s like, he did a bad match like I can do a bad match, for example. At the end my attitude was not good enough. I can admit it. But in my opinion, he didn’t make a good match. I like Nacho, and I like him as an umpire. I’m talking only about today.”
