Daria Kasatkina outlasted Coco Gauff 7-6(6) 6-3 at the WTA Finals keeping her hopes of a semi-final alive.
It was not a great match by either player as we saw rivers of errors with Gauff hitting 30 unforced errors in the opening set alone. Kasatkina proved far more calmer than Gauff which was enough to win this match and keep her hopes of getting to the semi-finals alive.
Speaking after the match, Kasatkina admitted that it was very tough:
"It was tough. I was nervous at the beginning. ... With the rhythm of the match, nerves disappear a little bit and start to be better. So I'm really happy to be in the next round, still alive."
She added:
"This is exactly what we face every single week. If you win, you advance, if you lose, you go home. ... So it's gonna be fun. The last tournament of the season for me and facing this kind of situation."
