Felix Auger-Aliassime has reached the final of the Open Occitanie in Montpellier, marking the 10th indoor hardcourt final of his career—a surface where he has claimed five of his six titles so far.

The Canadian has been one of the most dominant players on indoor hardcourts in recent years, and he proved it once again in Montpellier by comfortably defeating Jesper de Jong 6-4, 7-6(4) to advance to his second final of the season. His first title of 2025 came at the Adelaide International in early January.

A remarkable statistic that highlights Auger-Aliassime’s prowess on this surface is that he has reached finals in seven different indoor hardcourt tournaments over the last three years: Marseille (2), Rotterdam (2), Basel (2), Cologne, Florence, Antwerp, and now Montpellier joins the list.

The former World No. 6 has also achieved notable results on indoor courts, including a Paris Masters semifinal run in 2022 and leading Canada to the Davis Cup title that same year.

At 24 years old, Auger-Aliassime seems ready to reclaim his place among the ATP’s elite after an inconsistent 2023. His current record in 2025 stands at 9-2, and he awaits the winner of Andrey Rublev vs. Aleksandar Kovacevic to determine his opponent in the final.

Auger-Aliassime holds a 6-10 record in career finals, but when it comes to indoor hardcourts, he has a more promising 5-4 record, including title victories over Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Hubert Hurkacz.

Should Rublev advance as the favourite against Kovacevic, it would be the second indoor final between the Russian and Auger-Aliassime, following their 2022 clash, which Rublev won. They also faced off in the Madrid Open final last year, where Rublev once again emerged victorious.
