American tennis star Tommy Paul may be tied in head to head meetings against Matteo Berrettini, but it was the Italian who ran away with the victory when both men competed in a recent online challenge.
The 'Hottie Bracket' Challenge is a competition held by the Nothing Major Show podcast. Hosted by retired American John Isner, the event pitted some of the best-looking players on the ATP circuit against each other.
The competition was fashioned as a round robin draw, featuring 16 of the best-looking ATP stars. Fans voted for the most attractive player in each round, with the final two players going against each other and a winner being crowned.
Paul's route to the final saw him defeat Thanasi Kokkinakis, Lorenzo Musetti and Casper Ruud in the previous rounds. Conversely, Berrettini battled past Mikhail Kukushkin, Ben Shelton and Grigor Dimitrov to reach the final. However, the fan vote saw the Italian defeat Paul in the final, a fact that did not sit well with the American.
Berrettini was handed a trophy for his troubles, with Paul present during the humorous ceremony. Additionally, the winner was given a gift card to Italian restaurant, Olive Garden. The pictures posted online showed a happy Berrettini, whereas Paul looked slightly distraught.
"Is Tommy mad or sad?” wrote a fan.
Host John Isner cleared up any confusion with a witty response.
"Both" replied Isner.
