Stefanos Tsitsipas won today at the Roland Garros booking a spot in week two of the competition and after the match he spoke about what it does for him personally.
Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the next round of Roland Garros following a victory today which was the result of Bedene retiring. Even so, he was on the verge of defeating him quite convincingly as he smashed him in the first two sets before the Slovene retired in the 3rd set. Speaking post-match he said:
"Being able to compete in the 2nd week, gives me a lot of confidence, I think, and It feels great. You feel you are as part of a prestige. I've been putting a lot of hard work in, in every single match, trying to raise my level and play up to my expectations."
He continued by explaining how that will only help him going forward in week 2:
"I am very glad that I am where I am today. It's a moment I can reflect on the move on to the second week with the knowledge of the first."
And it truly should allow him to learn from this week 1 where he almost went out but managed to fight back. After that early scare, he looked as impressive as anybody who played in the last week on the red clay of Paris. How far will his confidence take him?
