Robin Soderling had a 10-year career during which he had quite a bit of success reaching a career-high ranking of number 4.
The Swede possessed a very strong baseline play centered around a strong forehand and good serve. After all, he did not beat
Rafael Nadal by accident clearing the way for
Roger Federer's only Roland Garros title. The Swiss ace faced Soderling in the 2009 Roland Garros final and successfully defeated him. He faced Federer, Djokovic, and Nadal 31 times in his career and asked who was the toughest to face he said:
“I’m not saying he was the best, but the most uncomfortable for my
game was Federer. His style didn’t suit my tennis. Others say that the worst was against Nadal or Djokovic.”
Soderling, who served as Sweden's Davis Cup captain during the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid, made the comments to Marca while in Madrid. Soderling and Sweden did a fine job reaching the quarterfinals of the event only losing to a very strong Russian team while putting up a good effort against them.
