Venus Williams, the American tennis legend, showcased her new pink hairdo on social media during her vacation in Paris.
The 43-year-old player recently had an early exit from Wimbledon, losing to eventual semifinalist Elina Svitolina in two sets. However, she is now enjoying some time off in Paris as she prepares for the WTA 1000 Canadian Open, where she received a wild card to play in the main draw.
Currently ranked world No. 528, Venus shared a picture of her eye-catching pink hair on her social media accounts. She accompanied the photo with the song "Pink" by the American band Aerosmith, adding a fun touch to her new hairstyle.
“It was love at first sight,” Venus Williams wrote on Instagram.
Venus Williams' year has indeed been challenging, especially after the past few years, where injuries have hindered her from competing regularly. Despite being the oldest player in the WTA ranking, the 7-time Grand Slam champion has shown a strong desire to continue competing and has proven that she still has much to offer.
In 2023, she has played a total of 6 matches on the WTA tour, securing two victories and facing four defeats. Her first win came in January at the ASB Classic, where she advanced to the second round after defeating her compatriot Katie Volynets, but then fell to China's Zhu Lin.
An injury kept her off the courts for the following months, but she made her return during the grass court season, where she achieved a victory at the Birmingham Open, just a week before Wimbledon.
In the opening round of Wimbledon, Venus Williams caused an upset by defeating the Italian Camila Giorgi in a thrilling match that went 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(8). She followed it up with an intense battle in the round of 16 against the second seed Jelena Ostapenko, where the American fought valiantly but ultimately lost 3-6, 7-5, 3-6.
