Rafael Nadal defeated Diego Schwartzman to reach the Roland Garros final where he will face either Tsitsipas or Djokovic.
After his semifinal victory against Diego Schwartzman at the Roland Garros Nadal spoke to the media recapping the match. In typical Nadal fashion, he spoke in a praising tone of his opponent and thanked the crowd for their support with even a little self-criticism in there for good measure. He said:
“It was very difficult. I’d like to thank the crowd for their support. It’s incredible to be in another Roland Garros final. It’s always a special moment. I made a couple of mistakes in the third set, when I missed a couple of volleys. "
And yes, Nadal had the crowd support on his said which greatly helped him in moments when he struggled a bit. He continued:
"I know when I play Diego it’s difficult to the very end. A few weeks ago, I lost to him in Rome and I’m happy to be improving each day. I didn’t play my best in Rome, but he always plays his best and he had a fantastic win against Dominic [Thiem] a few days ago.”
Nadal has been playing superbly at the Roland Garros in these past weeks so much so that even Boris Becker called him dazzling in his Eurosport show. He is yet to drop a set this year and his next opponents will be either Novak Djokovic or Stefanos Tsitsipas. Whoever it ends up being Nadal will be ready as he was so far. He didn't offer any comment on the final match though.
