It's been a tale of two sets for Andy Murray in his 1st round matchup against Durasovic. In the first one, Murray was superb and smashed his opponent rather easily 6-1. In the 2nd one, he faced a very aggressive Durasovic who was smashing the ball really well and that complicated things a little bit. Murray dropped a lead in the 2nd set and had to battle hard in the tiebreak to move on.
On that struggle he said:
“I got off to a very good start, and then in the second set, he started to play better. He was a lot more comfortable as the match went on. At the end it was just a big fight, and I managed to get the tie-break… It feels like he is playing better than 300 or so in the world.”
Things will get dramatically tougher for Murray in the 2nd round as another unfortunate draw has him pitted against Jannik Sinner. The Italian has had a fantastic 2021 season and he missed the ATP Finals in Turin by the slightest of margins. Asked about facing Sinner, Murray said:
“Sinner has had a fantastic season… He was very unlucky to not make the Final Eight [at the Nitto ATP Finals] in Turin,” Murray said. “He loves playing indoors on hard courts, so it will be a big test for me.”
Match starts at 18:00 CET and we will have a report for you ready once it's done.
