Alexander Zverev is playing great tennis once again as demolished opponents in his last two matches but it's unlikely to happen against
Carlos Alcaraz.
Zverev has won Madrid in the past thanks to his serve which powers him past plenty of players in conditions like those here.
He played in the final last year taking on Carlos Alcaraz but he lost it quite easily. Revenge came at Roland Garros a month later and part 3 will happen in Madrid again. He's excited about the challenge:
“The best preparation is to win matches
in straight sets. I think both opponents are great players and it’s
going to be a really difficult test, no matter which of them it is.
"Of
course, with Alcaraz I think it will be the match everybody is looking
for because it was last year’s final and the match I won before my
injury in the French Open. I am definitely looking forward to that
challenge.
He served spectacularly in the match emulating Tsitsipas from a day earlier in not missing any serves.
While the Greek went over an hour without missing a first serve, Zverev did that for half of that. He said after the match that he needs those:
“For sure I mean, I needed first serves. I
think today I felt great and maybe Grenier was a bit nervous because he
was playing for the first time in a third round Masters 1000 match and
it’s too big for any player. But in general I’m happy to be through."
