Doubles specialist Horacio Zeballos thinks that Nadal is more likely to retire because of something that is more mental than physical after struggling with so many injuries.
Nadal has been dealing with a lot of injuries lately and it's been tough to keep yourself motivated during those times. Very few players have the work ethic that Nadal does and he's still determined to make it work but even he has a breaking point. That is how Horacio Zeballos could see his career end, Nadal losing motivation to keep going:
"If it was the end, it would be because of something more mental than physical. It's very difficult to say because he has surprised us many times with his ability to come back so well after injuries."
He added:
"I speak to you as a tennis fan rather than logic. I hope he is present this year because it is very nice to see him play. Like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, Nadal has shown that he can stop and come back with inhuman results. He gets injured and then wins, I don't know, how many more Grand Slams. His age doesn't help him go back to the way he was 10 years ago. It seems difficult that he can return to the maximum level he has shown for so many years, but he never ceases to amaze us."
