Switzerland’s veteran tennis star Stan Wawrinka lashed out at
the International Tennis Federation (ITF) after a video circulated showing the low
bounce on the hard court during the $15k Futures tournament in Albuquerque, USA.
The video was highlighted by a young tennis player from
Britain Finn Bass who posted a long message on his official account on the social
media platform X — previously known as Twitter.
“Do better… @ITFTennis
@usta Completely unacceptable conditions here at M15 Albuquerque, can evidently
see the courts are not playable in any way shape or form. Absolutely no respect
or care for player welfare and how much money we spend to compete in these
tournaments,” he wrote.
Wawrinka echoed the voice of the youngster by resharing the
post with a caption: “@ITFTennis any comment ??”
On the court, the 38-year-old has suffered another disappointing
defeat, this time in the round of 32 of the Astana Open to America’s Marcos Giron
with a score of 6-5, 7-6, 7-6.
It was a major
setback for Wawrinka whose journey in the recently concluded US Open came to a
disappointing end as well when he was knocked out of the tournament after
losing in the fourth round to Italy’s Jannik Sinner with a score of 6-3, 2-6,
6-4, 6-2.
