Sascha Zverev has been enjoying a stellar campaign so far at the US Open which saw him defeat Davidovich Fokina last night in straight sets.
Sascha Zverev defeated Davidovich Fokina
quite easily in straight sets 6-2 6-2 6-1 to reach the quarterfinal at the
US Open and following the match he spoke to the media. He highlighted his excellent play in the first two sets:
"Definitely in the third set I saw that he slowed down a little bit. Especially on his serve he couldn’t push off that leg any more. But I think the first two sets were pretty good quality from me. There are still things to work on but I’m in the quarter-finals and that can only be a good thing."
Zverev's name has been making the rounds in the news as well after he defended the US Open for their health policies at this event. When asked about that he clarified further:
"I actually think the US Open has been doing an amazing job. Of course, we are not living in four seasons (hotel) but you gotta see it from a different perspective. We’re playing and we are happy to be out here playing."
It's a valid point from a player who will play
Borna Coric in the quarterfinals. He did not offer any comment on his upcoming match.
