Australia’s
Nick Kyrgios has suffered another injury setback.
The 30-year-old has struggled with fitness concerns and returned to the court
late in 2024 after staying out of action for two years.
However, it seems that Kyrgios’ struggles with fitness concerns have only grown further as he has now been ruled out of
Wimbledon 2025. Kyrgios shared the information in a post on his social media platform Instagram, where he stated that he will not be able to regain full fitness to feature at
Wimbledon this year.
“Just wanted to give everyone a quick update – I’ve hit a
small setback in my recovery and unfortunately won’t make it back for grass
season this year,” he wrote. “I know how much you’ve all been looking forward
to seeing me out there, and I’m genuinely sorry to disappoint. This is just a
bump in the road though, and I’m already working hard to get back stronger than
ever. Thank you for all your continued support – it means everything to me. See
you soon!”
The development is a major setback for Kyrgios, who earlier
last month was ruled out of the French Open as well because of a knee injury.
It seems that his recent decision is because of his failure to recover from the
same injury. Kyrgios was hoping to play in the competition where he registered
his best outing at the highest level back in 2022.
In that competition, he finished as the runner-up after
losing to former world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the final with a
score of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6(7–3). The recent development also cast doubts about the future of the Canberra-born star, who, earlier this year, after playing at the Australian Open, hinted that he might never play in the singles category again in that mega-event after struggling with fitness concerns throughout the first-round match.
