Jack Draper served for the 3rd set against Karen Khachanov but suffered an injury and had to retire not even 10 minutes later.
Disaster struck British breakout star Jack Draper who lost the opening set against Karen Khachanov after some superb play by the Russian but turned the match completely around in the next three sets. The Brit first battled back from a break down in the 2nd set to take it 6-4.
The next set was another impressive one from Draper who was up 5-2 in the 3rd set after outplaying Khachanov once more but somewhere around there he injured himself. He was able to get himself to 5-3 with a chance to take the set.
He failed and Khachanov was able to make it 5-5 even breaking Draper for the 6-5 lead after which he finally called an MTO. It was long overdue as he completely lost all his level somewhere in the third set and after a brief consultation with the doctor, Draper retired.
It's unclear what type of injury it is but it seemed like a leg muscle injury.
