The lineup for the 2025
Six Kings Slam, the second edition of the exhibition event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in mid-October, has been announced. The presence of 2024 champion
Jannik Sinner has been confirmed, along with
Carlos Alcaraz and
Novak Djokovic, who will be repeating their participation from 2024.
However, this time there will be three new names who were not there last year: world No. 3
Alexander Zverev, world No. 4
Taylor Fritz, and world No. 5
Jack Draper. This means the six players present will be precisely the six best-ranked players in the world today.
The second edition of the Six Kings Slam will take place at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, shortly after the Rolex Shanghai Masters. The exhibition tournament had its first edition in 2024, with the stellar presence of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic among the stars.
The champion, Sinner, received a prize of $6 million, and each participant was guaranteed a minimum of $1.5 million. The $6 million prize in 2024 is the highest prize money ever obtained by a tennis player for a single event, surpassing Novak Djokovic's prize at the ATP Finals 2022, where he took home a total of $4.8 million after being crowned undefeated champion.
What happened in the 2024 Six Kings Slam?
The event was created in 2024 with a six-player draw who would face each other in direct duels, with two players previously seeded directly into the semifinals. In this way, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal obtained byes in the first round and waited to find out their opponents.
The quarterfinals featured Jannik Sinner against Daniil Medvedev (the Italian won 6-0, 6-3) and Carlos Alcaraz against Holger Rune (the Spaniard won 6-4, 6-2). With this, Medvedev and Rune said goodbye to the tournament, winning only a handful of games and securing their $1.5 million prize money.
The semifinal duels began with the 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic against world No. 1 Sinner. It was a close duel where Sinner won 6-2, 6-7(0), 6-4, guaranteeing his place in the final, while Djokovic had to play for third place.
In the second semifinal, Carlos Alcaraz had no mercy on the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal—in one of his last appearances before retirement—and took the victory 6-3, 6-3, guaranteeing a dream final day: Nadal vs. Djokovic for third place and Sinner vs. Alcaraz for the title.
The duel for third place was a victory for Djokovic (6-2, 7-6) in what was the last time we were able to see the two greatest Grand Slam champions face off. Later, Sinner defeated Alcaraz in a passionate final (6-7, 6-3, 6-3), guaranteeing the Italian the largest historical prize in a tennis tournament.
