Jannik Sinner cut short
Andy Murray's stay in Dubai with a resounding victory over the Brit in straight sets 7-5 6-2.
Andy Murray was once again unlucky with his draw as he had to face Jannik Sinner in round 2 of the Dubai Tennis Championships. The Italian plays a certain style of tennis that can really hurt Murray at this stage of his career as the Brit is unable to trade hits with Sinner or similar plays. Early on, Murray was able to stay in the match thanks to some timely serving and Sinner not quite hitting as well.
As the match went on, Murray's serve began to fade and it opened more chances for the Italian. In the end, his 1st serve percentage in the first set dropped to 47 % and that was simply not good enough to keep Sinner away from break points. The Italian won the opening set with 7-5 after a late break.
In the 2nd set, the difference in quality became even more apparent as Murray continued to struggle with his serve. Sinner improved his serve quite a bit in the 2nd set and he became very dominant. He only dropped several points on his first serve and kept Murray away from any break points. Andy did not force a single one the entire match and that was simply not good enough.
Sinner would finish it off with 6-2 in the 2nd set and move on to the next round of the event. For Murray, it was another okay outing but simply not good enough for the best.
