Jannik Sinner will go to a career high of World Number Three come what may over the next few weeks and it could happen as early as this Monday depending on the result of the final in Rotterdam.
Sinner has benefited this week from Daniil Medvedev not deciding to play Rotterdam or Doha which means that his ranking will drop and that the World Number Three spot will fall into the lap of the Australian Open champion.
If he wins the final on Sunday in Rotterdam, he will be World Number Three on Monday. If he loses, he will be World Number Three after Doha so no matter what, he will become a new career high. It is only a matter of time.
He also becomes the highest ranked Italian male tennis player in history. Previously by becoming World Number 4 by winning the Australian Open, he tied from Adriano Panatta as the highest ever in fourth. But now he will officially achieve a ranking that no other Italian man ever has.
Only a tough final examination against Aussie ace Alex de Minaur will stop him from heralding that new statistic early so all eyes will be on him not only to try and win the title and a second one of the year at that, but the ranking that will come with it.

Jannik Sinner is set to become the new world #3. Previously, he tied Panatta as the highest ranked man in Italian history, #4. He will officially achieve a ranking that no other Italian man ever has. If he wins the final, he’ll be #3 on Monday. If he loses, he’ll be #3…
