Jannik Sinner wins 2021 Antwerp European Open over Schwartzman

Jannik Sinner won the 2021 Antwerp European Open over Diego Schwartzman 6-2 6-2 to remain in the ATP race to Turin.

Italian number two Jannik Sinner is determined to be a part of the first ATP Finals in Italy. The event will be held in Turin for the first time this week and Sinner wants to be there along with Berrettini to represent Italy. The Italian has a lot of work to do but a title at the Antwerp European Open is a good step towards that goal especially with so little time remaining.

The Italian played a very good week in Belgium but his match in the final has been the best one he played all week. No tennis player enjoys playing in Antwerp as much as Diego Schwartzman does. The Argentinian played his 3rd final here overall but once again he could not get over the hump. Sinner proved too good winning 6-2 6-2.

From the start of the match, it was apparent that Schwartzman would have a very tough time with this matchup. Sinner plays an ultra-aggressive style and when he is on mark the Italian mauls opponents easily. While Schwartzman is a capable mover on the courts his smaller stature compared to an average tennis player does not allow him to cover the court as well.

That proved troublesome against Sinner today as the Italian was able to attack early in rallies. Schwartzman does not possess a strong serve and that was a problem today, especially with Sinner laser-focused. The Italian also played the key rallies better all match long and that was enough for a convincing win. The result indicates that it wasn't a close match and it really wasn't.
