Jannik Sinner proved the menace once again by beating Maxime Cressy 7-6(3) 6-3 fairly comfortably to win his 7th career trophy in his 8th final.
Sinner quietly put together a really impressive week in the south of France beating opponents fairly comfortably and the final was no exception. Sinner has always been a very good indoor player because that's the type of court he learnt how to play tennis on. Cressy has been impressive all week long and served excellently but that didn't matter in this one.
He could have played better, especially in the second set but for the most part, he played as well as you can expect him to but Sinner was simply better. The American actually opened by saving a couple of break points which was very important. He later wasted some of his own and that was very costly in the end.
After that, we cruised to a tiebreak which was expected and Sinner was in the end better. Producing a couple of stellar returns and some bad misplays from Cressy were all that was needed for the Italian to take the first one 7-3. The second set was much more comfortable for Sinner as Cressy was unable to keep up the high level. He kind of folded and Sinner ran away with it 6-3.
