Jannik Sinner's return halted again, out of Shanghai Masters

As has been kind of expected at this point, Jannik Sinner will not be involved next week at the Shanghai Masters, and it is presumed that he won't be back in action until the ATP Finals or Paris Masters.
Sinner has not played throughout the Asian hard court swing, including this week in Beijing, so albeit he had tests done to see if he could make it to Shanghai, as given it is an ATP 1000 event, so it would lead to a fine/ranking point loss without a good reason, he is not heading to Asia, it seems.
The world number one won the Wimbledon title in July, but he has had a knee issue since then, which at first put him out of the start of the US Open hard court swing. He missed the US Open, Cincinnati Open, and Canadian Open and then the start of the Chinese hard court swing.
Sinner won the Shanghai trophy in 2024, when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final.

Who is playing in Shanghai now

"Unfortunately I won't be able to play at the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year as I had hoped," Sinner wrote Saturday on Instagram Stories. "I always enjoy playing in front of the Shanghai fans, and I'm very sorry that I won't be able to do so next week. Thank you for all your support. I'm looking forward to seeing you again next year!"
The tournament now features Djokovic, who is four time champion as well as Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli, and defending champion Valentin Vacherot.
