It is good news for Jenson Brooksby with the American tennis player's ineligibility reduced to 13 months after a doping ban with new information coming to light and he is now able to play on tour as soon as March which could mean a return post Sunshine Double.
Brooksby who reached a career-high of World Number 33 in 2022 was issued an 18-month suspension by an independent tribunal for missing three anti-doping tests in a 12-month period. However new information has been giving as to he missed tests which were not previously available.
They were submitted as part of the player's CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) appeal proceedings and on view of the new information, the ITIA determined that the player's degree of fault should be reassessed. Following this, a 13-month sanction was appropriate and is backdated to the date of the player's third and final missed test. As a result, his suspension will now end on 3 March 2024 and the player has now withdrawn his appeal to CAS. The new information that has come to light has not been revealed, but Brooksby can now return.
