18-year-old rising star Joao Fonseca continues his rapid rise after winning the Next Gen ATP Finals and claimed the Challenger Canberra title without dropping a set, defeating Ethan Quinn.

The Brazilian (No. 145) now has ten consecutive victories and will head into the Australian Open qualifying with plenty of confidence, having received a wildcard. On his way to the title, he defeated Mackenzie McDonald (No. 131), Duje Ajduković (No. 142), Harold Mayot (No. 116), and Jacob Fearnley (No. 99).

"I managed to adapt quickly to the playing style. I’m very happy to have reached 10 consecutive wins, one of my goals was to string together good weeks without falling off form,” the Brazilian said in an interview with FootBoom.

"I’ll be traveling to Melbourne this Sunday. Although I’m tired from this week, I feel good physically. I’m traveling with my physiotherapist, and he helps me feel good, we’re going to give it our all,” Fonseca added. “I want to bring this level of confidence to the Australian Open, perform well in qualifying, and hopefully have a good run in the main draw.”

Fonseca is set to reach his best-ever ranking on Monday as World No. 113. The qualifying draw will take place from Monday, January 6, to Friday, January 10. To reach the main draw, he must win three consecutive matches in best-of-three sets.
