Andy Murray wanted to win
Wimbledon but he crashed out in round two against
John Isner who really annoyed him in this one 4-6 6-7(4) 7-6(3) 4-6.
John Isner came into this match after playing five sets against a weaker opponent but it did not show in his play. He looked fresh, he moved sharply and he faced Andy Murray who struggled with his serve considerably. The Brit could not hit his first serve at all to start the match and Isner was able to take an early break. He held it for the 6-4 opening set.
The 2nd set was another good one from Isner who could not be broken in this one. The American served well and even when Murray found some returns Isner was able to hit either a great forehand or some incredible volley. The American was the more sturdy one in the 2nd one and he proved it in the tiebreak 7-4. The next set was another close one with both playing well and holding their serve.
A bad forehand error from Isner in the tiebreak gave Murray the 3-0 lead and he was able to hold it and get the set 7-3. It seemed like Murray was finally finding some good solution and playing well, especially after a solid opening to the 4th set. However, he gave Isner another break point and the American took it. From there it was a rather easy ride to the finish line as Isner was relentless.
The American blasted 38 aces and 81 winners to win the match in four sets. A superb display from the American to down a very frustrated Murray.
