Maria Sakkari had very few issues in her match against Tomova at
Wimbledon beating her opponent in straight sets 6-4 6-3.
The Greek player said before the event that she was ready to win Wimbledon believing herself one of the best players in the world. It's hard to argue that she's anything but one of the best but winning the event seems unlikely considering her noted problems in finals. Still, round two doesn't hold the same amount of pressure and she was able to largely outplay her opponent from start to finish.
Both of them played rather well in this one but Sakkari was a tiny bit better. She was able to hold her serve despite not serving that well the entire match. The percentages were a little over 50 % in both sets and she can certainly do much better.
She did outplay Tomova from the baseline having more winners in the opening set. It was a close one but won by Sakkari 6-4 in the end. The 2nd set was another close one but this time around Sakkari knew how to exploit her opponent and she was able to break her twice to win it 6-3. She was also more impressive on her own serve and all of that was good enough for the win.
