Daniil Medvedev and Iga Swiatek are both grand slam champions and both of them use the same racquet brand. To promote it, they met up for an Instagram Live where they talked about many different things including tennis advice. Swiatek recently qualified for her first WTA Finals asked Medvedev about advice and while giving it, Medvedev made fun of himself:
“Keep focused, if you’re 5-1 up, even in the third set, even if you
have match point, just keep focused, that’s the main advice,” the world
number two stated. Try to finish the match, don’t talk to your team, don’t show emotions.”
This was an obvious reference to his 2019 ATP Finals match against Rafael Nadal where the Russian had a 5-1 lead against Nadal in the 3rd set of that match. Not only did he have that lead, he also had a match point at 30-40 on Nadal's serve. He got distracted and he ended up losing that match. So there you have it, keep focused on match point.
