Simona Halep played another impressive match in Cluj-Napoca beating Gracheva in straight sets 6-4 6-2 to move on to the quarterfinals.
It's been a very enjoyable week for Simona Halep back home in Romania as she enjoyed every moment on the courts so far. She has been playing some of the best tennis she has played in the past months as well which makes it even better. Today's opponent was Varvara Gracheva and while she put up a pretty good fight she was no match for Halep.
The match had a high tempo and rallies were usually on the shorter side. Initially, Halep had some struggled as she lost her serve rather easily to start the match. She would pull it back immediately so there was not a lot of harm done. After that, she settled in nicely and started playing better.
After taking a 4-2 lead Halep played rather well to maintain her lead. SHe did not force the issue on return as enough damage had been done and she finished it off with 6-4. A very similar thing happened in the 2nd set with Halep once again having some issues early. This time around she would save the break point and then proceed to break her opponent taking a 3-1 lead.
After that Halep continued applying the pressure taking another break off of her opponent for the 5-2 lead which she turned to a 6-2 2nd set victory. A good match for Halep who moves to the quarterfinal of the
Transylvania Open.
