Casper Ruud and
Jannik Sinner are in a tight race for the ATP Finals in Turin and both of them won their matches today in Vienna.
A couple of high-stakes matches were played today in Vienna with both Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud playing today. Both of them are still fighting for the last two places at the ATP Finals in Turin and with wins today the Race continues. In fact, tomorrow will be a pivotal day because they will face each other in the quarterfinals.
Casper Ruud took on Lorenzo Sonego who played in the final here last year and the Norwegian had a very tough outing. He played rather well but Sonego is a very dangerous player on his day and today the Italian had one of his better outings lately. It was a close battle that lasted almost three hours. Ruud trailed in the first set but came back to win it 7-5.
In the 2nd one, it was Sonego who proved better winning 6-4 while the 3rd featured a fierce battle. Both had huge chances to finish off it earlier than it did but in the end, It was Ruud who prevailed. Jannik Sinner had a much easier going than Ruud. The Italian faced native Novak and the Italian cruised.
It was not perfect as the Italian faced some break points but he saved all six of them. He also did a lot of damage when returning from the baseline and it proved more than enough for a 6-4 6-2 win. Sinner is actually on an impressive 41 consecutive holds of serve.
