Kei Nishikori has not played in a year and due to that the former top 10 player is now unranked on the ATP Rankings.
Nishikori last played at last year's Indian Wells event which happened about a year ago. The event was originally pushed back from March to October and it was the last time Nishikori played. He had a hip injury that forced him to miss the rest of the year and he finally opted to undergo surgery in January.
He's yet to make his return and slowly all of his ranking points dropped. Not only was he ranked inside the top 100 when the year started, but he was also actually ranked inside the top 50. However, that got worse over time with the Japanese player dropping outside of the top 100 in June.
By September he was 700th in the world and his last points came off this Monday when last year's Indian Wells points stopped counting. Due to that he's now unranked but should make his return soon on the ATP Challengers Tour. That should earn him a few points so he'll be ranked by the end of the year again.
