Sofia Kenin produced a really good level to take a tired Aryna Sabalenak at the
Rome Open and it's her first top-10 win in three years which makes her happy.
The story of Sofia Kenin is quite an interesting one. She won the Australian Open a few years ago and made the Roland Garros final the same year however multiple injuries since then completely derailed her career. She's working hard on getting back to where she was but it's going very slow though this win proves that she can still rise up to the occasion.
Speaking after the match, Kenin admitted to being very happy about earning first top 10 win of the year against Sabalenka:
“Of course I’m super happy. It was a really tough match. She’s
playing some great tennis so I’m just super proud of myself. I had to
bring my best tennis to win. I thought I served well, returned well. I
brought my good game."
It remains to be seen whether she can keep it up but she looked so far.
