Nick Kyrgios has never shied away from controversy, and the Australian made headlines again when he revealed his career plans after he hangs up his racket.
The World No.45 was featured in a promotional video for the Sony Playstation 5, during which he made some surprising statements about his post-retirement plans.
"When I reach 10 years spent at the professional level, I think I will try to make the switch and become a gamer," Kyrgios stated. "I think I'm good enough to be able to play that, but I just need to dedicate myself to this."
Based on his current age of 25 years, this could mean that Kyrgios plans on retiring when he turns 28. The Aussie chose not to partake in any ATP tournaments following the Tour's restart, citing the uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Kyrgios also made a rather bold claim, stating "I think I'm the best tennis player on the Tour. Athletes are generally very confident and think they can play well too, but not everyone can."
The Australian has won six career ATP singles titles, with his best Grand Slam performances coming at the quarterfinals of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships and 2015 Australian Open.
