Rafael Nadal has been given the 'Orden del Dos de Mayo' which is the highest award issued by the city of Madrid.
Rafael Nadal added another honour before the expiration of 2020 and this time it's the highest honour a person can get from the city of Madrid. The Spaniard has had a solid 2020 adding another Roland Garros trophy and now he added yet another honour. He cut short his vacation in the Bahamas in order to be present at the ceremony.
He dedicated this award to all the victims of the pandemic and their families saying:
“I would like to send a message of encouragement to families who have lost a loved one. Also to all health personnel and, together with them, to the State security forces."
