Kyrgios struggles to see fairness in clay court tournaments: "I see guys in the top 100 that I don't even know, I wouldn't recognise them if I crossed them on the street"

Nick Kyrgios once again made it known that he is not a fan of clay tennis or even the number of clay events in the ATP calendar bluntly calling it 'crazy'.
Kyrgios dislikes clay heavily because it goes against the way he plays tennis preferring quicker courts in order to utilize his powerful serve and groundstrokes. As he demonstrated this year, the faster the court the better he tends to play and clay doesn't fit that narrative at all. In a recent interview he once again commented on many clay events being part of the calendar:
"I've said it many times and I'm saying it again now: There are too many clay-court tournaments on the calendar."
He also repeated a comment he made earlier about many players exploiting that fact into their favour:
"I see guys in the top 100 that I don't even know, I wouldn't recognise them if I crossed them on the street, and they're there only because of the clay tournaments. I think it's crazy."
Kyrgios famously alluded to Ruud being part of the top 10 only because he was winning many clay court ATP 250 events. While true in a way, the Norwegian proved himself far more than just a clay court player in the past 12 months. The Australian also confirmed he is coming to Roland Garros in 2023 because his girlfriend wants to experience Paris.
