The ATP Cincinnati Open is very wide open following the
demise of the top two seeds. Just one player left in the draw, Taylor Fritz, is
a previous Masters 1000 champion with all the competitors in the top half of
the draw not having reached a final at this level. Two of these players will make
it that step closer to their ultimate ambition in Ohio. Tommy Paul is the only
American in action, and he will have the crowd’s support against Roland Garros
finalist Flavio Cobolli. Arthur Fils will then challenge for a third Masters
1000 semi-final against the surprise package Thiago Agustin Tirante. Follow for

- But pro tennis, like other sports & much of life, IS in the celebrity exemption business. Do we not look the other way when Krygios throws chairs around the court or Swiatek delays play to suit her own rhythm? Are we not right now making a BIG deal about Eala .. & making light of the fact that her fans are annoyingly boisterous. & are screwing with the timing of match play? Tourney decision-makers have been handing out wild cards to whomever they wish for a long time.. to players in their country, to former greats, to potential greats & maybe there are even 'secret' choices happening.. who knows.
