Herbert Mahut ATP Finals
The two best doubles team in Mahut and Herbert and Salisbury and Ram clashed in the ATP Doubles finals with the French pairing taking the trophy.
It was the 2nd match these two teams played at the event as the first one played in the RR stage of the event was won by the American/British combination. That match featured some sensational moments like the 13-11 match tiebreak as well as something very rare in doubles tennis, a bagel. This match was a little less exciting but the quality was very high.
The Frenchmen were very sharp from the start and they clearly proved their intentions to win the event from the start. They served extremely well and just like in their semifinal match the day before Mahut and Herbert did not allow a single break point. They won all 17 points on their first serve in the first set and it was just a perfect and clinical set from them.
Ram and Salisbury were okay at best and that was simply not enough to defeat the Frenchman who were sensational all day long. In the 2nd set Mahut and Herbert continued to do what they do best and once again they were dominant on their own serve. On return they forced a few break points but Salisbury and Ram were able to hang on.
In the end, it did not matter much as Mahut and Herber closed out the match with a very impressive tiebreak performance winning it 7-0. A perfect match dropping only one first service points in the entire match while also not allowing a single break point.
