MATCH REPORT | 2024 Shanghai Masters: Novak Djokovic eases into Quarter-Finals with supreme Safiullin showing

Novak Djokovic is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2024 Shanghai Masters successfully after taking down a tricky test on paper in Roman Safiullin.

But it was one that the player introduced onto the court earlier in the tournament as the GOAT settled into superbly breezing through in his first tournament since an early loss at the US Open.

It was a 6-3, 6-2 win over Safiullin in just over an hour. His route through gets marginally easier on paper too as he faces Jakub Mensik in an intriguing present v future tie.

Mensik took down Grigor Dimitrov in a 2-1 sets win earlier today to book a tie with Djokovic albeit he has struggled at times against players with nothing to lose.

Especially being young rising stars so it might not be as easy as it may look on paper. But he remains in the hunt and through his latest test.

It is now 91 Masters Quarter-Finals for Djokovic. He had played 10 of them in Shanghai so a pretty good record in China. He’s now won 17 out of his last 19 matches and he d looking fresh and ready to go ahead of the latter stages.

Novak Djokovic won his fourth round match by a score of 6-3 6-2 to make the Shanghai quarterfinal. He has not lost a set all tournament. Simply the best.
