Alexander Zverev is the latest to go on a furious umpire rant during the
Shanghai Masters as he referenced the previous incidents and also accused the umpires of screwing up his Grand Slam chances.
Zverev launched into a rant at the umpire calling out errors in his match and previous ones accusing the umpires of complacency and ruining the tournament.
He defeated Tallon Griekspoor 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 however in the first set, a fault was called claiming he hit the ball after it had bounced twice. He disputed the call insisting that he reached the ball in time. However replays showed that a double bounce had occurred.
This made Zverev's protestations null and void but he still thought he was right fuming at the umpire and mentioning the issues with Stan Wawrinka and also Frances Tiafoe with the latter launching into a foul mouthed rant suddenly after his loss.
He now plays David Goffin for a spot in the Quarter-Finals and will hope for no more drama with the officials in that match.
"How on earth are you calling that? I got the ball completely clean?" Zverev shouted. "Let me say something, you guys umpires are f***ing up the whole tournament this year. Completely."
"I’ve played more than 80 matches this year, with injuries, with illness, with everything. And I cannot be bothered to go to China in October for you to screw up this. This is not possible. I’ve been playing for nine months now," he added.
"I have a Grand Slam final, I lose it because of you guys' mistake. I’m here running my a*** off with the illness, you guys still do mistakes," Zverev said continued. "You guys decide the whole match. You guys decide the outcome of tournaments every week. What am I putting effort for in? "
