Former
Serena Williams coach, Rennae Stubbs, suggested that
Stefanos Tsitsipas should
consider changing his coach.
Greek
player Stefanos Tsitsipas has been in the spotlight of world tennis since 2018,
when he won the Next Gen ATP Finals and reached the final of the Madrid Open
(losing to Novak Djokovic).
However,
despite being considered one of the favorites in every Grand Slam he competes
in, he has yet to make the breakthrough and win one of the four major
tournaments. Although he has reached four semifinals and two finals between the
Australian Open and Roland Garros.
Doubts
about his level of play grew after his defeat to Carlos Alcaraz by 6-2, 6-1,
7-6(5), a match in which he was overwhelmed by the Spanish player, showing a
significant difference. Tennis analyst Stubbs suggested a change in coaching,
stating:
"Maybe
he should consider his coaching situation."
Analyst Tim
Henman also described the loss as embarrassing and downplayed the influence of
melatonin pills on the result and level of play displayed.
